The worst part about One Piece is how garbage canon fodder receives more screen time and attention than the Straw Hat Pirates. If that sounds boring to you, then good, because The majority of the Arcs have terrible pacing, much too many plot lines, and far too many characters, and that ain't even the worst part. With everything said and done, celebration is had, and the Straw Hats leave as the citizens thank them and promise to always remember their kindness. They are stronger than expected, but through the power of friendship for only knowing people he encounters for about a day and from the people of these dumb disney islands they will themselves to victory with random new attacks they just invented or just with the same variation of it. Luffy takes on the boss and his crew mates take on the underlings. Luffy hotheadedly decides he is gonna save the day because the plot tells him too so he starts yelling. We then meet the villain who is doing stereotypical villain things. Straw Hat crew arrives at an island, the people are friendly but something is wrong. Not only that, but it’s the same thing each time. So many Rinse and repeat dramatic moments here and there, they’re almost always forced as much as possible and accompanied by over the top water faucet tears or something else as corny that makes you want to punch a hole in the wall. Honestly, if you want a shonen that doesn’t insult your intelligence and make you feel like you’re reading something written by a smarter than average 10 year old, then don’t pick this up. One Piece is somehow popular while having the worst character designs in anime, includes countless scenes of characters sobbing like bunch of childish crybabies, and drags on to the point no one will care anymore. Each character has a dream (which they will never achieve because this cash cow will never end) and of course a tragic backstory to go with it. It’s mostly about a roaming crew of do-gooder clichés that travel the high seas to islands on repeat. One piece for the longest time is the most overrated piece of fiction I’ve ever read. According to Oda in an interview for US Shonen Jump, his favorite villain in One Piece is Buggy the Clown (he joked that he literally threw him together). Oda's 3 favorite movies are Seven Samurai, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Young Guns. Oda is a fan of rapper Eminem, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and Tim Burton. "Odacchi" is Oda's nickname, and he played soccer when he was younger. He voiced the character "Odacchi" in a soccer-themed short that aired with the 3rd One Piece Movie. In a recent Japanese fan poll, Eiichiro Oda is currently ranked the 48th Most Popular Character in One Piece, despite the fact that he has never included himself in any issue of the manga (excluding SBS). Eiichiro Oda is married to Chiaki Inaba, who had played Nami during Jump Festa One Piece stage performances. Eiichiro Oda was formerly Nobuhiro Watsuki's assistant alongside Hiroyuki Takei. He also runs a YouTube channel about Japan stuff called TheDoctorDazza, tweets at posts photos of his travels on Instagram.Favourite Real-Life Pirate: Edward Teach (Blackbeard) While we await the One Piece ride to return in Weekly Shonen Jump on July 25, and on the Shonen Jump app the same day, catch up on over 1,000 episodes of the One Piece TV anime right here on Crunchyroll.ĭaryl Harding is a Japan Correspondent for Crunchyroll News.
